This song describes how a Hongdae club feels like! Partying just might be more fun in Korea.
I actually can think of 3 things that make clubs in Hongdae different from the ones in Manila.
1) Korean boys don’t just bob their head when they dance. They neeeed space. Shuffling and all other dance moves are not just ideas in Korea. People actually do it and they do it in synchrony.
2) Korean girls wear rubber shoes to the club. I once saw Sarah Meier in Jaipur with Nikes on haha but hello, she’s Sarah Meier. I do believe that almost all Koreans are fashionable but why they pair rubber shoes with a dress is something I will never understand.
3) The thing I like most about partying in Korea is people are generally friendlier here. I feel like, in Manila, one of the reasons why you go to a club or a bar is to be seen. In Korea, though, it’s really just to party and maybe meet some cool people. Last week, when we went to Hongdae we met this really funny French girl who told a guy who was asking for her number that his chest was bigger than hers and that she didn’t like it. This starts her conversation with my friends and after which a few minutes of talking to her, she falls of the bench. Good times.
Wednesday was the start of our school festival aka school fair in the Philippines. In Korea, it’s not just a fair, it’s a festival #bongga haha anyway, every year, the international students are invited to participate in the international food festival. Last year, the Filipino students sold barbecue and it was a pretty big hit. This year, I guess we were too busy to join.
Here is my Japanese friend, Kanaeh, in her pretty kimono :)

Lazy Winter day in Korea.
I’m back in preparation for the coming semester and it’s cooold. I’m supposed to be doing my thesis but (sigh) why is it so hard to concentrate? The cold weather just makes me want to stay indoors in my pajamas and eat. Although, thanks to the cold weather I can wear boots every single day :D I love how it can instantly make you feel put-together and sexy even when you feel so bluuh.
Also because of the cold weather it means I can go snowboarding! Which I am going to do on Thursday with my Korean friend/the girl I tutor English to. I’ve never tried it so I hope I don’t break anything. I hope I’m a fast learner, too.
Koreans love their alcohol. Soju is probably the staple liquor in almost every hard core drinking session in Korea buuut makgeolli (in photo) is my all-time favorite. I think mostly old people drink makgeolli so actually when I tell Koreans that I love makgeolli they smile :) or laugh a little but helloo really it’s so good! It’s like milky coconut juice with a taste of alcohol. If you come to Korea, it’s a must that you try it! At bars they even make like makgeolli fruit-flavored drinks. Strawberry is my favorite.
